Importing transactions from a CSV file
Last updated 17 days ago
If you don't have a bank connection set up, or your bank isn't supported, you can import bank transactions into the program as a CSV file. Almost all banks let you download account statements in CSV or Excel format.
You can also import accounts receivable and accounts payable via CSV.
Preparing the file
Banks' CSV files can vary in structure. Before importing, check that the file only contains a header row and transaction rows — remove any extra header rows, summaries, or empty rows. Also make sure the file is saved in CSV format, not Excel format.
Importing into NoCFO
Go to the Transactions tab, click the arrow next to the "New transaction" button, and select "Import from CSV".
You need to map at least the following fields for the import:
Accounting account — the accounting account the transactions are posted to (Bank account, accounts payable, or accounts receivable)
Date — the date of the transaction
Amount — the transaction amount
Description — the transaction description
Contact — the name of the payer or recipient
It's also worth mapping the Archive ID if one is available. This prevents the same transaction from accidentally being imported again.
